Alana Hammer is a Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist. She is nationally certified as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (Dipl.OM). Alana is also licensed as an Acupuncturist in the state of California where she practiced acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine as a primary care provider. Her passion for healing through traditional Chinese medicine ignited during a six-month sabbatical through South East Asia. The Orient and its traditions, representing a complete system of medicine, have long fascinated Alana. At the root of all these traditions is the idea that health is a reflection of a balanced life- that our true purpose is to go beyond mere physical health to achieve harmony between body, mind and spirit.
Alana earned her Masters of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM) in San Francisco. Prior to this, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Colorado. Alana has done extensive post-graduate work in women’s health and obstetrics through seminars, workshops and internships. Chinese medicine can help to prepare a woman’s body for conception, as well as ease a woman through the many physical and emotional changes that occur during each trimester of her pregnancy. It has been shown that women who get regular acupuncture treatments during their pregnancy deliver on time, have less health complaints during their pregnancy, have less pain during their delivery and have shorter recovery time post-partum. Additionally, her practice focuses on internal medicine and pain management.
